was able this weekend to pull the engine and subframe/suspension from the civic. This is the last of the stock parts that will be coming off, so from here on it’s only improvements. I declare I am officially done with all the work that is essentially devaluing my car every time I touch it.
there so many steps to getting an engine ready to pull, so friday arvo into saturday morn was spent disconnecting all the electrical, fuel, vacuum, grounds (forgot one, doh), accelerator cable, shift linkages, steering column, etc.
as mentioned, I forgot one fo the ground wires, tough little wire, it was enough to lift the whole car up off the jackstands! Lowered it back down, found my error. Cursed. Realigned the jackstands.
but there we go, engine out and on the floor. the pile of stuff to the right is all the suspension and engine parts from the donor car
Then it was out with the subframe. far simpler than the engine. Last time I lowered it as the internet suggest by putting my floor jack underneath it, this time I used the engine hoist and dropped it onto my creeper. Far more successful.
this car is in just such good condition. rust free and straight. best place to see this is the battery sp ot in the engine bay. Typically these are all rusted out as they tend to trap water dirt and battery acid. Mine is just a little dusty
then some shimmying around, I got everything all tidied up in the garage space
Zoe approved
all that sorted, it was time for a selfie
I don’t discard clothing until they’ve been downgraded to garage spec, and then completely ruined. The end result is I look an absolute dork in the garage. My variety of goofy coloured rubberized gardening gloves don’t aid the look. But at $6 for a pack for a pack of ten, it’s the best option. I keep a bucket of water with dish soap (to break down oiliness) and just toss my gloves in there once too dirty.
Then here is a random shot of the TSX getting fueled up. A rare event these days.

I was thinking a 2.2 or 2.4 from a prelude. But the 1.8 built would be fun.

0 mpg afforded by the 0-speed transmission and 0L of displacement. But, dat weight savings and aero benefit from the giant speed hole might make up for it.

Put it in the back driving the rears. B18 or K20 swap in the front. Instant 600HP AWD Civic.

H22 is a monster, but you can only get a cable transaxle for them. With the EG/EK being hydro transaxles it takes a bit of finagling .
